Preparation
-
Take the 500 gr piece of tofu and cut it into 1 cm square slices.
-
Turn the individual slices in the cornstarch and place them in a hot, oil-coated pan.
-
Fry the tofu pieces from each side until the breading looks firm and crispy. This takes about 12 to 15 minutes.
-
During the frying time, stir the sauce, consisting of water, gochugaru, soy sauce, mirin and sugar together. The garlic clove must be finely chopped. This will give the best taste. Alternatively use 1 tablespoon of garlic powder.
-
Heat a 2nd pan or put the tofu pieces out of the pan aside and clean the oil from the pan with kitchen paper.
-
Bring the sauce to boil in the sour pan and put the tofu pieces in. Leave them to braise on low heat for another 5 to 6 minutes. Turn the slices over, not so that they remain crispy on one side.
-
Arrange the tofu pieces on a plate and garnish with black or white sesame seeds. Taste and enjoy!
