Bibimbap is a Korean rice bowl dish and is called as the food of harmony and Koreas soul food. Also, Taking different ingredients from the fridge and mixing it all in a bowl of rice with red chili paste. Bibimbap is made by parboiling and stir-frying vegetables and mixing all sorts of different ingredients.It is one of Koreas most famous foods which has captured the palates of people from all over the world.

The most delicious sauces for bibimbap

Very important for delicious Bibimbap is certainly the sauce. You can also buy ready-made Bibimbap Sauce, but I recommend you to cook your own variant. From the Bibimbap sauce Korean chili paste (Gochujang) is indispensable, because it gives the dish a sharp and very tasty aftertaste.

Stir fried beef (or pork) chilisauce
  • 200 gr ground beef , pork
  • 1 onion
  • 4 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon soysauce
  • 4 tablesppon gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Gangdoenjang Sauce

All of these ingredients, you have to boil in a pot before serving.

How healthy is the average bibimbap bowl

The regular bibimbap bowl (vegetarian bibimbap) is about 400 kcal but beef tartare bibimbap or meat bibimbap is about 599 kcal. If you want a low calorie meal, why dont you try vegetarian bibimbap? Korean namul plays an important role in vegetarian diet.

Advantages of Vegetables in Bibimbap

Bibimbap is made by topping rice with all kinds of seasonal namul. Vegetarians consider Korean namul and bibimbap as a blessing. Vegetables are a healthy choice. Seasonal vegetables are soaked, softened and then seasoned with other condiments. Sometimes they are eaten raw, but Koreans like to boil their vegetables. Boiling vegetables helps remove harmful substances and improve the body's absorption of beneficial substances.

The following sauces are for 2 people

Sauce 1 - The standard sauce and simple variant

  • 6 tbsps. Gochujang
  • 1 tbsp. garlic
  • 1 tbsp. of sugar
  • 1 tbsp corn syrup (honey is also possible)
  • 1 tbsp. Gochugaru
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce

Sauce 2 - spicy minced meat sauce

  • 250 gr of minced and mixed beef
  • 1 tbsp. garlic
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 5 tbsps. Gochujang
  • 4 tbsps. grain syrup (honey is also possible)
  • Some pepper To do this you first have to fry the minced meat with a little bit of oil.

Sauce 3 - spicy tuna sauce

  • 1/2 can of tuna
  • 1 tbsp. garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Gochujang
  • 3 tbsps. water
  • 2 tbsps. honey or grain syrup
  • 1/2 tbsps. sesame oil

Preparation

  1. At first step, cook the rice! This is best done with a rice cooker, because the rice tastes just perfect then in my opinion.

  2. Cut the vegetables you have choosen and fry, cook or stew them. You may also spice the vegetables up with a bit of salt and pepper.

  3. Mix the sauce. Here you have to find your personal favorite.

  4. Roast any number of fried eggs or just use the raw egg yolk. I'm a fan of fried eggs, with the egg yolks remaining nicely liquid.

  5. Put everything together in a large bowl and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.

  6. Mix everything and enjoy your meal.
