Preparation

  1. Cook the So-Myeon Noodles for 2 minutes. While doing so, prepare an ice-cold water bath.

  2. Scare the noodles right off. Pour off the hot water and put the wheat noodles in the ice bath. When they are cold, take them out and let them drain.

  3. Now mix the spicy sauce. There are different sauces, but my recommendation consists of: 1 tablespoon Gochujang, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 0.5 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar, 0.5 teaspoon pepper, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds and 3 tablespoons finely chopped kimchi. Further sauces are listed in the recipe introduction above.

  4. Now cut half a cucumber in Magic Sticks. Cut off longish slices (set the knife at approx. 45°) and cut these slices into thin strips.

  5. Now fry one or more fried eggs. My recommendation is to fry the egg with a little oil from only one side so that the egg yolk remains liquid.

  6. Now put the drained pasta in a bowl, place the fried egg and the gherkins on top and stir in the sauce. Garnish with more sesame seeds as desired. Mix everything very well so that all ingredients are uniformly combined. The sauce should coat each pasta and the egg should be divided into small pieces. Only by mixing carefully the whole taste unfolds!

  7. In Korea, ice cubes are also added to this dish. The colder the dish, the better. However, I don't like it when the ice melts and a watery sauce forms under the noodles.
