Inside China Haus, a Chinese restaurant in Düsseldorf's Wersten district, the dining room glows under warm yellow cove lighting and round chandeliers recessed into the ceiling. Dark wood tables are set with folded white napkins and small vases of flowers, surrounded by black upholstered chairs with circular cutouts in their backs. The space feels roomy and a little upscale: decorative white lattice panels and light stone columns frame the view, mosaic-tiled pillars run through the middle of the room, and orchids and potted plants sit along the counters. In the background there's a bar area with shelves of glasses and bottles, a few staff and guests, and large frosted windows letting in soft light. The overall atmosphere is calm and inviting, photographed from a diner's seat with chopsticks resting on a placemat in the foreground.

A collage of five photos from a meal at China Haus, a Chinese restaurant in Düsseldorf. The top row shows two open menu pages filled with glossy photos of roasted dishes, pork ribs, and other specialties, each with Chinese characters and prices in euros. Beside them sits a clear glass teapot filled with green jasmine tea, the small white blossoms floating in the water. The bottom row shows a hand holding a slim gold-covered menu booklet, a lotus leaf unwrapped to reveal a golden fried rice cake with a pair of chopsticks resting on the dark leaf, and a white bowl of pale yellow soup on a saucer, topped with napa cabbage, carrot strips, cucumber slices, and chopped scallions. Everything sits on dark woven placemats on wooden tables, giving the scene the feel of a casual, authentic eatery.

In the top half, a red spiral menu cover with golden lettering sits next to a plate of sliced duck with crisp skin arranged over peppers and carrots in a glossy dark sauce, a small bowl of white rice alongside. The top right photo zooms in on that duck, filling the frame with the crackling skin, tender meat, and vegetables glistening under the sauce. The bottom half shows an open menu page headed "Vorspeisen," the German word for appetizers, listing numbered starters with prices and small photos of spring rolls, satay skewers, a mixed salad, and edamame. Beside it, the star dish: a wide white bowl of noodle soup in a rich red-orange broth, loaded with chunks of braised beef, leafy greens, and thick noodles, a spoon resting inside. A jar of jasmine tea and dark placemats with cutlery complete the table setting, giving the feel of a cozy, casual neighborhood restaurant meal.
