A man in a maroon t-shirt and khaki pants stands on the sidewalk outside Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill, smiling toward the entrance and holding a black wallet in one hand. The restaurant has a tan stucco facade with large dark windows, and a bright blue awning sweeps across the front with the name written in white lettering. Edison-style string lights hang along the awning's edge, and a black lantern lamp glows beside the entrance. The address 3667 is mounted on a pillar near the door, and through the windows you can see framed photos covering the interior walls, plus a white "A" health grade card. A yellow newspaper box sits by the entryway on this sunny day in San Diego.

Resumen de reseñas en línea

Visitors consistently praise this seafood restaurant for its fresh, generously portioned dishes and wide variety of options. Whether enjoying perfectly seared scallops, flavorful Alaskan crab sandwiches, or legendary fish tacos, most note that the seafood tastes remarkably fresh and well seasoned. The ability to customize any fish as a taco, sandwich, salad, or plate adds to its appeal, while specials like octopus and grilled shrimp nachos keep regulars coming back. The casual, counter-order setup and relaxed atmosphere earn high marks for speed and friendliness, even when the line stretches out the door. Staff are described as genuinely kind and helpful, and outdoor or side-room seating provides a pleasant spot for lunch or dinner. Despite occasional waits of 15–45 minutes during peak hours, diners agree the food and service make it worth the wait. To make the most of your visit, plan to arrive early or during off-peak times to avoid long lines, and note that street parking can be challenging. While prices are on the higher side, guests feel they’re justified by the quality and portion sizes. With everything from cioppino and clam chowder to plant-based and kid-friendly options, this spot is a must-try for seafood lovers in San Diego.

A four-photo collage shows Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill, a casual seafood restaurant in San Diego. Two of the shots capture the exterior from the street: a tan two-story building with a bright blue awning printed with the restaurant's name, a man in a maroon shirt and jeans standing on the sidewalk by the entrance, and in the other a tall blue sign rising from the corner of the building with a black sedan parked at the curb below. Both are set against a clear blue sky. The third photo is the glass front door, its frame almost completely covered in colorful stickers, with a blue health grade "A" card at the top and the photographer reflected in the glass. The last panel shows the ordering menu, a large white board on a wood-paneled wall that reads "Welcome to San Diego's favorite Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill" and lists daily specials, seafood combos, catch-of-the-day prices, and wines in blue print.

Three photos together show Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill in San Diego, a casual spot that is part restaurant, part fish market. The left photo shows the dining room: a bright blue ceiling, surf and wave paintings, mounted fish on white walls, and a long stainless steel display case packed with iced seafood, with simple wooden tables and condiment caddies in front of it. The right photo looks across the tiled dining area toward tall windows and the ordering counter, where a menu board hangs above staff in blue shirts, and a man in a maroon t-shirt stands checking his phone. The center photo is a close-up of the market counter, and it carries the most detail. Trays of fresh seafood rest on a bed of crushed ice: bay shrimp at $10.95, boiled shrimp at $21.95, and fresh salmon at $22.95, with salmon fillets marked at $26.95. Bottles of sauce and dressing sit chilled in the ice between the trays, and handwritten black signs with white lettering label each item. The overall impression is of a neighborhood fish market where you can also sit down and eat.

A plate of grilled moonfish (opah) sits on a mound of white rice at Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill in San Diego. The fish fillet carries distinct dark grill marks and a light glaze, and the plate is completed with a fresh salad of mixed greens, shredded carrots, red onion, cucumber, and tomatoes, plus a lemon wedge and a small cup of creamy tartar sauce. Everything is served on a rustic wooden table in bright, dappled sunlight. Behind the main plate, a second dish holds grilled salmon over greens, and a patterned paper cup of iced tea with a lemon slice rounds out the relaxed, sunny lunch setting.
