Open from 6 PM to 3 AM on weekdays, and until 4 AM on weekends, Yogi offers a diverse menu featuring traditional Korean dishes like Sogogi-Sukju (stir-fried beef) and Yamyem Padack (fried chicken), which are designed to be shared among friends, mirroring South Korean dining culture. Summary Conclusion

Yogi is a new stylish Korean restaurant that has secured a place in the Korean and Japanese quarter around Oststraße (as of Sep. 2017). Yogi adopts the concept of a bar with the option to order delicious Korean dishes (similar to SauSalitos). The menu features typical Korean dishes that are served with beer and soju. For a cozy evening with friends, beer, soju, and tasty food, Yogi is the ideal place. However, those expecting a purely restaurant experience may not be satisfied here.

Yogi - Bar and Restaurant at the Same Time

Yogi is a Korean bar and a sort of restaurant at the same time, which only opens its doors in the evening hours. In South Korea, such establishments are common because Koreans like to eat delicious food with a glass of beer and friends in the evenings. Typically, dishes are ordered in a group and shared. Such a concept is rather uncommon in Germany but comparable to SauSalitos. Yogi is the perfect location for groups of 2 people or more.

What We Ordered

We ordered 2 dishes together. On one hand, grilled beef (Sogoi-Sukju) and on the other the famous Korean chicken (Yamyem Padack). Additionally, there were three small side dishes that complemented our order for free . Among them was my dearly beloved cucumber salad Oi Muchim.

Sogogi Sukju Yogi Düsseldorf
The mild and spicy beef dish Sogogi-Sukju (€14) was very tasty. The light soy flavor particularly distinguishes this dish. It is also refined with a slight grilled wood aroma.
Yamyem Padack Yogi Düsseldorf
Furthermore, we ordered fried chicken pieces Yamyem Padack (€14). A pile of thinly sliced leeks was placed on the chicken pieces. (If you ever want to prepare the leek this way, you will need this onion knife (for leeks and green onions) ).

Taste

In our opinion, the ordered dishes were very delicious. The side dishes were okay and not particularly special. Unfortunately, no kimchi was served, which is not a big deal for Ryu, but I (Matthias) would have liked to have eaten kimchi. I have been to Yogi 2 more times before and have already tried other dishes. So far, all dishes have convincingly impressed us taste-wise .

Value for Money

A dish at Yogi costs between 10 and 18 euros. In terms of price and quality, the dishes (which we tried together and I alone) are very good. I recommend coming here with a larger group to be able to order multiple dishes at once and still stay cheaper. The larger your group is, the cheaper the total sum becomes.

Conclusion

Matthias' Impression
• Especially the chicken was my favorite. With the leek, a real treat
• Unfortunately no kimchi as a side dish
• Very nice service
• Cool atmosphere, I like this bar feeling with delicious food
• I will definitely come back
• Unfortunately, no website yet and especially unknown among non-Koreans
Ryusei's Impression
• My favorite was definitely the beef dish
• Relaxed establishment, cool interior for a bar
• It is not a restaurant, more of a bar. Those expecting it to be purely a restaurant will be disappointed
• Very nice service
• I would come again
• Unfortunately, no website yet and especially unknown among non-Koreans
• If you are not familiar with Düsseldorf, hard to find

I thought it was super delicious there. No idea what my friend ordered, but all 4 dishes were really good. Unfortunately, it's really hard to find and I lived in Düsseldorf for 2 years XD But I highly recommend it.

Hi Anna-Lena, the Yogi is really very good and I think it also really brings across that typical Korean bar vibe :) Haha, now you know it and can visit it more often :D Best, Matthias
