Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill at a Glance

This restaurant primarily features fish from the San Diego region.

There is a consistent selection of different types of fish and daily changing specials with very special fish fresh from the area. The restaurant looks plain and beautiful from the outside and is easy to find. The restaurant is very busy, which is also evident from the many awards and accolades that hang on the doors and walls. The Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill is not a Japanese restaurant, but since we were in San Diego we wanted to eat fresh fish from the Pacific, which is very similar to Japanese fish.

Seafood as far as the eye can see

Local Fish - They're proud of it and rightly so

Really all the types of fish that you see in the photos look super delicious. We would have loved to order and try everything, but unfortunately it didn't fit in our stomach, because the selection is so large. A big plus of the restaurant is that almost everything they get or buy in terms of fish comes from the region. This is very important to the people of San Diego and of course also speaks for special freshness.

    This is what we ordered

During our visit to the Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill, we decided to try the Opaha (moonfish/ "God's salmon") and smoked salmon. The smoked salmon came with a salad as a side dish and the Opaha was served with rice. The portions were very filling and also really tasted good. We also ordered a homemade, unsweetened iced tea for our meal, which was also really good.

    Surroundings and Atmosphere

The restaurant was rather simple but definitely beautifully decorated. On the walls hung many pictures and photos showing fish sculptures and the like. In addition, there were many awards and accolades on the doors and walls that the Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill received for the restaurant itself and for the good food. There were flowers on every table, which contributed to the pleasant and cozy atmosphere while eating. You also had the option of sitting outside. What was very good was that these places were not directly on the street and were protected from noise by a wall.
