    Jens Ihrig

Hello, my name is Jens Ihrig, I was born in the late 1970s and have lived in Karlsruhe for 14 years. I discovered my love of cooking at a young age. My love for Asian cuisines began at the latest after a three-month trip through Southeast Asia after the end of my studies. Since that first stay, I have been to this beautiful part of the world over ten times and have fallen a little bit more in love with Thailand, its neighbors and their cuisines each time.

The "Yam Woon Sen" is a Thai glass noodle salad and one of my favorite Thai dishes. It was therefore predestined to be the namesake for my blog, which is almost entirely about the cuisine of Thailand and its neighboring countries. But there is always a place in my kitchen and on my blog for delicious recipes from other parts of the world. In addition, I sometimes present a cookbook, a delicious wine, a refreshing beer or one or two kitchen utensils.

Heike und Stefan sind die Betreiber des großen Foodblogs AsiaStreetFood
Heike and Stefan are the operators of the large food blog AsiaStreetFood

We are Heike and Stefan and are cooks, writers, photographers and passionate travelers. My wife Heike is an enthusiastic photographer and I love to cook, try out new recipes and write them down. On our travels to Asian countries, we discover traditional dishes in their cultural context. We have helped to broaden the culinary horizons of many and try to inspire as many fans as possible to engage with the culinary traditions of foreign cultures, always following the motto "Stories about eating something somewhere … are really stories about the place and the people living there … the reading of a food's story reveals, like any good travelogue, a much bigger story - a cultural geography - of particular times and places." by Susanne Freidberg.

We have been sharing our experiences on our website Asia Street Food since 2011, the most visited website for authentic Asian cuisine in Germany. Our first cookbook Asia Street Food won the Gourmand Cookbook Award "Best in the World" as well as the silver medal from the German Gastronomic Academy. In 2016 it was already published in the 3rd edition with a total of 18,000 printed copies. Our second book Asia street Bowls was published in the first months of 2017 and has already received excellent reviews. We live in Frankfurt, from where we set off on culinary expeditions.
