    The Blue Flower Sea

The park is famous for its impressive tulip bloom in spring, but in summer and autumn there are also a variety of flowers and green plants to admire. Particularly impressive are the countless blue Nemophila flowers (blue beautiful flowers), which transform a large area of the park into a unique sea of flowers. A breathtaking backdrop for every visitor.

    Summer Cypress in Autumn

I had the opportunity to visit Hitachi Seaside Park again - this time in autumn. The park offers a unique sight at every time of year, with a variety of plants and flowers that bloom at different times of the year.

In autumn, the main attractions are the Kochia bushes, also known as summer cypress, which are ablaze in a bright red hue. The season for this is mid to late October. The park can get quite crowded during these times, especially on weekends.

Activities and Attractions in the Park

In addition to the flower spectacle, there are also many activities and attractions to discover in the park. How about a bike ride along the flower sea or a ride on the Ferris wheel, from which you have a breathtaking view of the park and the surrounding countryside?

If you prefer to take it easy, you can sit on one of the many benches in the park and enjoy nature, have a nice picnic with a picnic blanket or relax in one of the many street food (only in season) or cafes.

Tip: Plan Your Visit and Make Preparations

To make your visit to Hitachi Seaside Park an unforgettable experience, you should plan early and prepare well. It can be very crowded in the park, especially during the bloom, so it is recommended to arrive early in the morning or visit on a weekday.

Once I was there in winter, the park was almost empty, but there were hardly any flowers either. In peak season, i.e. in spring, there are hundreds to thousands of visitors there, but I haven't seen a long queue at the entrance yet.

Be sure to bring a camera to capture the impressive bloom. And don't forget to bring sunscreen and a hat, as the sun can be very strong in Japan in spring and summer.

Overall, Hitachi Seaside Park is a real highlight and a must for any visitor to Japan. The combination of impressive bloom and numerous activities and attractions make this park an unforgettable experience. So off you go to Ibaraki-ken!

    Getting there by train

The journey takes about 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on where you start in Tokyo. I recommend planning a day for the trip so you have enough time to enjoy the beautiful park.

    One Small Drawback

The park is located relatively far from Tokyo, but it is still worth a visit for nature lovers, as there are also many beaches nearby.
