Bentō (jap. 弁当) is a Japanese version of a lunchbox/snack box. Such a box usually contains many small dishes, which are often prepared by the mother or wife. Whether at school, university, or office; Bento boxes can be found everywhere in Japan. Therefore, you can find so-called Bento shops in many Japanese train stations and department stores, offering thousands of variations of decorated and pretty Bentos. Unfortunately, in Germany, you can only find Bento shops sporadically, where you can get your individual Bento box. I think dishes that contain little water or sauce are best. However, the dishes should not be too dry. It is very important that perishable foods like fish, meat, or eggs are fully cooked, as they become quickly inedible at room temperature otherwise. Otherwise, there are virtually no limits. There are even special Bento boxes in which soup can be stored. However, I do not recommend cheap ones, as there is a risk that the plastic will melt or that there are leaks. This is my absolute favorite. I am into a minimalist and natural design. Additionally, wood has a different feel than plastic. Unfortunately, this also affects the price. Therefore, I will only buy them when I have a full-time job. Sadly, I am just a poor apprentice and food blogger.

6. Totoro Bento

"Tonari no Totoro, Totoro" I watched this movie and its brilliant music for the first time when I was 10 years old. A very typical design for Bento boxes. Red and black, with flowers and animals on them. In the past, when I was still going to school and my mother prepared my lunchbox with tasty food, I had a similar box. Also, the fact that you wrap fabric around the box is typical. In this variant, it's a fabric sack, while in my childhood I often used simple handkerchiefs to wrap it.
