Three side-by-side travel photos of the same man, Ryusei Hosono of the RyuKoch blog, each showing a different moment in Japan. On the left he walks through a historic village street lined with wooden buildings under a thick thatched roof, dressed in a long white rain coat and carrying a folded black umbrella. In the center panel he poses close to the camera beneath branches heavy with pink cherry blossoms, wearing a grey wool coat over a maroon turtleneck. On the right he stands with arms crossed on a smooth rock beside a river, a small waterfall and a wall of dense green forest behind him, this time in a white t-shirt, dark pants, and a black crossbody bag.

Inhaltsverzeichnis:

    TL;DR

Also änderte ich meine Strategie, schrieb meinen ersten "langen" Text – *hust* – 500 Wörter. Gerade so Google-tauglich.

    Reisebericht Hachijo-jima

A steep, green volcano rises above Hachijō-jima, its smooth cone filling the center of the frame beneath a sky scattered with white and grey clouds. Lower slopes are covered in dense trees and grassland that stretch out toward the camera. In the foreground, orange bird of paradise flowers and low green shrubs line the edge of a winding paved path that curves through an open grassy park dotted with palms. In the lower right corner, a car's side mirror reflects the photographer, who holds up a white phone to take the shot. The whole scene has a lush, almost tropical feel under bright daylight.

April 2023 – 2. Ausflug Ibaraki (Hitachi Seaside Park)

The first panel shows a young man in a navy puffer jacket, white face mask, gloves, and black sneakers standing on a snowy, rocky forest path and looking up at the trees. In the second, a weathered wooden signpost reads NIKKO NATIONAL PARK in white letters, with Japanese characters above it and tall evergreens and blue sky behind. The third panel looks up at the tall red five-story pagoda at Nikko Toshogu, its tiers richly carved in gold, green, and white against a bright sky. The last panel is a meal close-up: wide yellow noodles with asparagus and rolled omelet pieces on a white plate, set on a black tray over a wooden table.

The figure on the left has swept-back reddish-brown hair, large blue eyes, and a white headband bearing the South Korean flag, worn with a blue martial arts jacket trimmed in red and a white belt. The figure on the right has spiky black hair, brown eyes, a thin mustache and small chin beard, and a white headband with the Japanese flag, dressed in a black jacket with red trim and a red belt. With one character flying each country's flag, the pair serves as the RyuKoch mascots, a friendly Japanese and Korean duo.

A three-panel collage from a trip to Fukui, Japan, showing one photo from each highlight of the region. On the left, the sea viewed from the Tojinbo cliffs: dark, vertically columned rock formations drop to the water, with green grass in the foreground and a small wooded island offshore under a soft, partly cloudy sky. The middle panel is a close-up of a bowl of oroshi soba, buckwheat noodles in a light amber broth topped with a mound of grated daikon, sliced green onion, and a tangle of pinkish bonito flakes, sitting on a wooden table next to a striped tea cup. The right panel shows a life-size gray sauropod dinosaur statue standing on an artificial rock formation outside the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, a long-necked figure looming in front of a modern glass building whose facade is covered with colorful dinosaur murals, under a bright blue sky.

Hikone Castle's illuminated keep glows gold against a soft pink and lavender dusk sky. The multi-tiered tower, with its white plaster walls and gracefully curved dark-tiled roofs, rises just above a dense screen of dark green trees that fills the lower half of the frame. Fuzzy pine branches reach into the foreground on the left and bottom, partially framing the view. The warm evening lighting on the castle contrasts with the cooling sky, giving the scene a quiet, end-of-day feel.

Below them, the word RYUKOCH appears in large dark serif capitals, followed by a big black plus sign and the K-SHOP.eu logo, where the letters of "SHOP" are colored orange, green, and purple, the "K" is dark blue with a tiny delivery truck tucked against it, and ".eu" ends the name in dark text. The bottom two corners each hold a full-body cartoon figure matching the heads above. On the left, the auburn-haired character with the Korean headband wears a blue martial arts uniform with a white belt and laughs with closed eyes while saluting. On the right, the black-haired character with the Japanese headband wears a black and red martial arts outfit and points upward with one finger. The layout reads as a collaboration announcement between the two-person brand and the shop.

A passenger jet is seen from behind on final approach, its tail fin and swept-back wings rising against a soft pastel sky streaked with pink and pale blue from the setting or rising sun. Below the plane, rows of airport approach lights on tall metal masts glow with warm amber lamps, making clear the aircraft is about to touch down. Placed over the center of the image is a large Japanese flag, the white field with a crimson red circle, covering the plane's fuselage and turning the scene into a simple visual statement about arriving in Japan by air.

On the left he stands outside a green wooden building with an American flag hanging on its wall, trees and simple wooden chairs around him, looking down at a dark menu in his hands. The center photo is the heart of the set: he grins from a restaurant table behind an enormous two-tier seafood tower resting on crushed ice, loaded with a whole lobster, crab, mussels, clams, shrimp and lemon wedges. The dining room is warm and rustic with dark timber beams, other diners and staff moving in the background. On the right he stands in a bright seafood restaurant with fish mounted on the walls and tall windows, head down, reading a menu.

    August 2019 – USA-Reise

A few other visitors share the viewpoint: a couple standing arm in arm in dark t-shirts, a person in a white shirt and cap photographing the scenery, and another traveler at the left edge with a brown bag strap across their shoulder.

Make Your Own Miso Kurs in Japan

A six-photo collage from a miso workshop in Japan, built around big buckets of fermenting soybean paste. The largest frame shows an open white bucket packed with dense brown miso, its surface sealed under plastic wrap and marked with a handwritten Japanese label carrying a date. Next to it, rows of white and yellow lidded tubs hold other batches, one labeled in Japanese as rice koji. The remaining close-ups stay tight on the paste: a yellow bucket filled with smooth, caramel-colored miso with a small spoon resting in it, and a large yellow tub with its lid pushed aside to reveal plastic-wrapped miso inside. Two frames bring people in. One shows a hand offering a scoop of miso on a white spatula with a pink handle, held out over a blue bucket for a taste. In the other, a man in a gray t-shirt stands at a long table portioning miso into neat rows of small plastic containers, with shelves and a whiteboard behind him.

    Miso-Kurs in Japan

This collage shows a hands-on miso-making course in six photos. In the largest shot, a young man in a striped apron holds up a clear bag of koji rice while a boy in a green shirt and dark apron watches closely, both standing in a workshop with Japanese calligraphy on the wall behind them. The other panels follow the process. Hands knead a coarse, grainy mixture of mashed soybeans and koji in wide white basins, working it until it comes together. A bowl holds finished miso rolled into uniform round balls. The last two photos show the paste packed into plastic fermentation containers, smoothed down, sealed with plastic wrap, and topped with a mound of coarse white salt, ready for storage.
